I purchased tis guitar with the intension of never letting it go, with a new addition to the family on the wau its now time to raise funds unfortunately. I've owned the guitar for the past year or so after buying from a private collection. The description used when I purchased the guitar os below, nothing at all has changed in the past year as I've had it on display and played it only a handful of times.

This is an auction for a SUPERB original vintage 1953 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop which has had an exceptionally good, all gold re-finish with some rather special paint. I bought this one about 8 years ago on ebay and was told that it was refinished using some original special paint from the Gibson factory and did not have any breaks or holes or any other mods in the body. I was even given the telephone number of the luthier who did the work to verify this but I have since lost this.

Now, I cannot verify all of this but I have no reason to doubt what was said about this amazing guitar.

It came to me with some re-issue P-90's but since I bought it I have found 2 x original 1953 P-90 pickups which are now in the guitar however the metal back plates of the pickups (which you cannot see) are re-issues - an original pickup backplate is included in the sale should you wish to have it fitted to one of the pickups!!!!!

Items I know for sure are original include - wood (body and neck), finish on front of headstock, tuners, knobs, pickup covers, stud bridge/tailpiece, truss rod cover, pickguard bracket & pickups are original 1953 but not from this guitar. Everything else I am not sure of.

I also had some real vintage late 1950's Bumble Bee caps installed which sound very nice.

Plays well and sounds fantastic. Tailpiece is at it's lower extreme of height adjustment and I find it comfortable to play but people who like really low action may not think so.

Fretboard is a Stunning and Beautiful dark Brazilian Rosewood with the original markers. It is in great condition and the guitar would make a superb donor instrument for a burst conversion...
